Privacy Policy

App: SynapX  |  Last updated: May 29, 2026

Summary: SynapX is an AI-powered note-taking app. Your notes are stored on your device, not on our servers. We keep only a minimal account profile, send note content to AI only when you ask us to, never send your Private notes to AI, and never sell your data.

1. Who We Are

SynapX ("we", "us", "our") is the developer and publisher of the SynapX mobile application available on the Apple App Store. For privacy-related questions, contact us at: privacy@synapx.app

2. What Data We Collect and Why

2.1 Account Data (collected when you sign in)

SynapX uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you sign in, we receive and store on our backend:

2.2 Your Notes and Content (stored on your device)

The notes you create — including text, titles, tags, categories, imported content, transcribed voice notes, and Vault (private) notes — are stored locally on your device in the app's storage. Your notes are not uploaded to or stored on our servers. They remain on your device unless you choose to export or back them up yourself, and they are removed when you delete the App.

2.3 AI Processing (only when you use AI features)

SynapX offers optional AI features (auto-organization and the "Ask" assistant). These features require an internet connection. When you choose to process a note with AI or send a message to the assistant, the following is transmitted through our Supabase Edge Function to a third-party AI provider that generates the result:

Notes you mark as Private are never sent to the AI. Content sent for AI processing is used only to generate your requested result and is not stored on our servers beyond what is needed to complete the request. The AI provider may process request data under its own API data-processing terms and safeguards.

2.4 Voice Input (microphone & speech recognition)

If you use voice capture, the app requests permission to access your device microphone and Apple's speech recognition. Voice input is converted to text using Apple's Speech framework. The resulting text is stored locally as a note and is only sent to AI if you subsequently choose to process it (see Section 2.3). We do not record or store raw audio on our servers.

2.5 Image Import & OCR (camera & photos)

With your permission, you can import images and documents from your camera or photo library. Text recognition (OCR) is performed on your device using Apple's Vision framework — image content is not sent to our servers for OCR. SynapX does not collect, use, or store your location.

2.6 Face ID / Device Passcode (Vault)

The secure Vault uses Apple's local authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode) to unlock private notes. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS on your device. We never receive or store your biometric data.

2.7 Push Notifications

With your permission, SynapX schedules local notifications (e.g., reminders for scheduled items). Notification data is processed entirely on your device and does not involve transmitting information to our servers.

3. How We Use Your Data

We do not sell your data. We do not show advertisements. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

4. Data Storage and Retention

4.1 On-Device Storage

Your notes, Vault contents, and app preferences are stored locally on your device and are removed when you delete the App.

4.2 Backend Storage (Supabase)

Your Apple User ID, optional name, email, and a last-updated timestamp are stored in our Supabase database to maintain your account profile. This data is retained for as long as your account exists.

4.3 Data Retention After Deletion

When you delete your account from the Profile screen in the App, we send a deletion request to our backend, which permanently removes your profile record. Deleting the App also removes all locally stored notes and data from your device.

5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:

We do not share your personal data with any other third parties.

6. Children's Privacy

SynapX is a general productivity application and is not directed to children under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 beyond what is required for the Sign in with Apple flow. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at privacy@synapx.app and we will promptly delete that information.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

EU/EEA/UK users (GDPR): You have additional rights including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing is your consent and our legitimate interest in providing the service.

California users (CCPA): We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to deletion as described above.

8. Data Security

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach involving your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. International Data Transfers

Our backend infrastructure and the third-party AI service may be located in the United States or other countries. By using SynapX's AI features, you consent to the transfer of the relevant data to these locations. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law, notify you through the app. Continued use of SynapX after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
